The development of Family Compensation Funds in Colombia reflects a long-term process in which social protection has taken shape through hybrid institutional arrangements. Subsequent chapters address the consolidation of the legal system, the diversification of services, and their measurable impact on quality of life and poverty reduction. Attention is also given to contemporary challenges. The expansion of informal employment, the rise of digital work platforms, and pressures on financial sustainability introduce new tensions into the system. In this context, the Funds are examined not only as resource administrators but also as adaptive institutions operating under conditions of uncertainty. The analysis does not assume uniform outcomes across territories or populations. Rather, it acknowledges unequal coverage and persistent disparities while documenting the mechanisms through which these institutions seek to address them. The result is an interpretation of a model that continues to evolve at the intersection of economic policy, labor dynamics, and social equity.
