About this book

Description

Contemporary education requires the development of competencies that enable individuals to interpret complex challenges, make informed decisions, and act responsibly in diverse contexts. Fifteen interconnected educational fields are examined, including science, financial, citizenship, environmental, legal, digital, and social-emotional education, as well as education for peace and coexistence, health and self-care, interculturality, artificial intelligence, the psychology of learning, mental health, inclusion, and lifelong learning. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the analysis addresses fundamental concepts, emerging challenges, institutional tensions, and opportunities for educational intervention, considering the social and organizational conditions that influence their implementation. Particular attention is given to evidence evaluation, autonomy in digital environments and automated systems, civic participation, recognition of rights, responsiveness to diversity, and responsibility for the consequences of individual and collective decisions. Conceptual discussions are complemented by case studies, analytical questions, and pedagogical applications designed to support critical reflection, instructional planning, and the continuous improvement of educational practices. These approaches are presented as practical resources for educational deliberation rather than as empirical demonstrations of effectiveness. The integration of different educational perspectives facilitates both specialized analysis and interdisciplinary connections among related fields. Ultimately, the development of educational competencies is understood as a continuous process requiring theoretical knowledge, meaningful opportunities for practical application, institutional support, systematic evaluation, and a willingness to reconsider established assumptions in light of new evidence.
